A successful life starts by taking ownership of your life. I often refer to the last line of the poem, Invictus by William Ernest Henley:

It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.

Below I share three simple, yet profound ideas for leading life successfully.

Spend Time Listening to Successful People

I have a playlist of inspiring podcasts which I listen to every morning while getting ready for work.

I particularly like Evan Carmichael, a YouTuber who mashes up talks from different successful people regarding a particular area of self-development. Evan has content on almost every area of personal development: courage, belief, discipline and so on.

So I start off my day listening to people like Oprah, Warren Buffet, and Mel Robbins, and I have observed that doing this puts me in a positive mood for the rest of the day.

The things we hear oftentimes shape our thoughts which ultimately inspire our actions.

Go After Your Own Dreams

No matter how many seminars you attend, your life wouldn’t change until you actually work on yourself.
So, I can’t overemphasize the importance of chasing the things we dream about.
Failure is inevitable on the way to success. So see it as normal and don’t let it deter you from trying.

Believe in Your Dreams

I’ve come to the conclusion that the ideas I sit on for the longest time are those I don’t really believe in.  I could come up with the excuse of not having enough time to execute them,  but I know that I always make time for the things I consider important. Again, maybe it’s the fear of failure holding us back.

Have you ever sat across some old guy talking about the dreams he never pursued? I have and honestly, there’s nothing as unfortunate as someone reeling off goals they never pursued or things they wish they had done.

Call to Action:

I'm passionate about growth.
I like it for others and I love it for myself.
My vision for the future is that people and businesses have the tools they need to thrive; a sound mind and a healthy body.
My favourite quote is, "What you carry is what defines you."
